The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) International has commenced its 2018 campaigns for its UK and South Africa Editions.(ZAA) UK returns for its 8 th  Anniversary with organisers calling on the public to nominate prospective recipients for this year’s honours while S
outh Africa has been growing strong and plans are underway for its 4 th  Edition.

Award nominations are now open across all categories and the public will have until 31st January to put forward those individuals and organisations they feel have distinguished themselves in various ventures over the past year. The nominee announcement for both editions are scheduled to take place in March and the awards ceremonies are scheduled for April in South Africa and May in the UK. “From our professionals working in various fields to our artists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and charities, Zimbabwean talent is making its presence felt in our host countries’’ the Chairman for ZAA International Conrad Mwanza said.

He added, “the idea for ZAA was birthed from my motivation to recognise the hard work and achievements of Zimbabweans living and working abroad. Every year, I continue to be amazed at how . Zimbabweans continue to break barriers in their respective fields and that’s what keeps ZAA relevant.”

ZAA International has also released a 3 tier ticket range with early birds at £65pp before 31st  January, £75pp from 1st February to 31st  March and £85pp thereafter. South Africa will follow a similar model with R500 in January, R650pp in February and R800pp thereafter. As per our usual standards, both events will include a 3 course meal and a drinks reception, added Bridget Mudhosi, ZAA South Africa Director.

The high profile occasion has become the highpoint of celebration for professional and artistic achievements by Zimbabweans around the world. Last October, ZAA successfully launched another edition in Australia. The organisers, who have consolidated the awards brand in the UK, US and South Africa felt it was time to extend the platform to Australia, which hosts a number of Zimbabweans. There is a huge pull to host the event in the Motherland and plans are now underway.

Renowned Broadcaster Ezra Sibanda was among those honoured by ZAA Chairman Conrad Mwanza at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards held at the Cumberland hotel in London on Saturday.

Sibanda said that he was both humbled and honoured to be recognised and thanked everyone who has supported his career and philanthropic work over the years.

Other Honorary recipients included Marshall Gore, for his contribution to sports and community development and Tawanda “Jusa” Sibotshiwe for services in music, and for creative entrepreneurship as a music producer.

“Last year we honoured the women who are doing amazing things in the media and this year it was only fitting to recognise the men, Legends and pioneers who have excelled for decades and are continuing to do outstanding work in the UK and abroad,” said Founder and Chairman Conrad Mwanza.

Senior Pastor of Christ United Ministries Liberty, Pastor Jide David Modede was awarded the Friend of Zimbabwe Award for his contribution to the Life Project.

Mwanza congratulated all the winners and thanked those who attended the seventh anniversary of the awards.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

“We have been doing this for seven years. Sometimes we have got it right and there are times where we have got it wrong but, we have continued to persevere and run with the vision that started as an idea in conversation,” Mwanza said.

“It is not easy to put on an awards show of this magnitude. We have a team, both at organising level and at panel level who work tirelessly for months and I salute their efforts.

We had a few hiccups this year and there were a number of things that were a slight oversight on our part but, we are grateful to all those who attended, who made it memorable and, who continue to support the vision and the brand. We hope to come back bigger, better and even stronger next year,” he added.

The event was hosted by Radio and TV personality Candice Mwakayele. There was also a surprise performance by dancehall artist Killer T.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards International has announced the 28 October as the date of the debut Australian version of the globally-spreading award series.  The Awards will be held at the beautiful Hilton Hotel Adelaide. Tickets are available and can be purchased directly from

Nominations have since opened and people have until 31 July to put forward names of Zimbabwean persons and businesses they believe are excelling and have potential to win various categories.

“We urge people to send in time their nominations of Zimbabweans living in Australia and to also purchase tickets as this a great opportunity to network and bring progressive Zimbabweans together, the inaugural event will be a unique opportunity for the many Zimbabweans in Australia to celebrate their own successes, said Shepherd Mutusva, ZAA Australia Country Director

The Zimbabwean community Down Under, as Australia is commonly known, has grown over the years; with many venturing and excelling in different economic fields like in other countries such as the UK, USA and South Africa where Zimbabwean communities have traditionally settled. Interestingly Australia has seen a growing number of Zimbabweans moving to settle there for various reasons, with some individuals having been in that country for decades and doing very well.

“As such, the Australian version is expected to be just as exciting as the editions we have held in UK, US and South Africa,” said Mutusva

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Meanwhile ZAA International has announced that the USA edition will be held on 11 November at the Marriot Hotel, Dallas while the South African edition is scheduled for 2 December this year with venue yet to be confirmed. People are being encouraged to send in their nominations for all the ZAAs through the website and selecting the country of choice.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards is held in countries where there is a sizable community of nationals from the southern African country. The global event has become the epitome of excellence among Zimbabweans who have chosen to live outside their home country, like many other diaspora communities from across the globe.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The high profile awards, founded by Conrad Mwanza in 2010 have become the highlight of celebration for professional and artistic achievements by Zimbabweans in the UK and has spread to South Africa, USA and now Australia.
