Meet the Panelist

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards panel of judges are made up of key business people, cultural leaders and eminent political figures. A transparent process will determine the winner for each of the categories. The first stage sees the creation of a long list through independent research. A broad based panel of judges, hand-picked for their involvement in community and business debates, scores and ranks the nominees against the criteria to determine the winner.

Louis Charema

Louis Charema (Chief of Staff). He is a pragmatic Business Leader who has established himself in the Corporate Business world over the last 15 years both in the UK and recently in Zimbabwe. After acquiring his CIMA qualification at Emile Woolf 2000 – 2004, he has held numerous senior positions managing multi-site operations leading change process for various portfolio clients, initially with Chubb (since 2000). In 2010 Louis Charema started a thriving Facilities Management Company, One Simple Solution Ltd, specialised in NEBOSH, which to date has acquired an impressive client base including a number of London Boroughs and Councils. On completing his MBA at London’s LSE he also joined CMG International Media Group as a co-director, focussing on an expansion strategy encompassing operational, financial and corporate integration processes to further expand the group. Through CMG, Louis facilitated the recent initiative, Zimbabwe Trade and Investment Forum held in London, which saw Honourable Minister Mike Bimha address UK investors; the Steward Bank Launch in the UK and previously, Eco-Cash and World-Remit. Louis is also heavily involved and works with the Zimbabwe Investment Authority and various Ministries on investment projects.

 

Tawanda Chiwira

Tawanda Chiwira is a multiple award winning Olympic athlete and World Championship finalist and no stranger to high level, high quality hospitality delivery. Tawanda competed for 10 years for Zimbabwe from 1994 to 2004. Mr Chiwira also served as a committee member for the Zimbabwe Diaspora Olympic Support Network for the 2012 Zimbabwe Summer Olympic Teams. He was also a panelist for ZAA 2013 and an Event Coordinator for ZAA 2014 and 2015. Tawanda currently works as the Human Resources Manager for FRANTEC based in Ipswich. He is also an Associate at El Cee Chic Fashion and Personal Styling as well as a member of Zim Sports Legends and Athletepreneur. In his spare time he is a sports mentor and DJ on Deeplomatikk Radio and Musiq Ave.

 

Vickie Manatse Nkomo

Vickie Manatse Nkomo, Vickie is an Award winning TV and Radio presenter with expertise in broadcasting. She has appeared numerous radio stations in Zimbabwe and the UK including the BBC. Vickie is a founder of Mind After Christ Kids/Youth organisation affiliated to Scripture Union which host annual Christian camps each year. She provides support and guidance for children between the age groups of 8 years and 17 years in basic life skills through Biblical teachings and practical approaches. She works with young ladies of different backgrounds through mentorship focusing on basic life skills (Prov31 lady). She has been involved in project management of charitable events such as the Charitable Couture (Cat Walk) which raised funds to support children infected by cancer in Northampton Hospital. Vickie currently stands as the Panel Co-ordinator of the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards Panelist. She is a qualified Occupational Therapist and graduated from Northampton University.

 

Thembi Nkala

Thembi Nkala is an independent contractor in health care having previously worked in Advisory services for KPMG as a Management Consultant in the Healthcare team. She is a registered nurse with wealth of clinical and operational healthcare experience in both the public and charity sector. Thembi holds an MSc in Global Health and Development, obtained from University College London (UCL) where she’s occasionally invited to give career advice to post graduate students. Thembi’s top motivation is in actively contributing to the improvement of healthcare systems and health outcomes of populations, particularly in developing countries. Consequently, she’s previously worked voluntarily in Mkoba Clinic and Mtapa Clinic in Gweru, Zimbabwe. Thembi is always on the lookout for charitable initiatives to participate in, around the world. Her other passions include mentoring/coaching young adults, travelling to explore markets, culinary and cultures different parts of the world have to offer.

 

Darlington Mutize

Darlington Mutize is a Finance and Investment professional with particular interest in innovative and sustainable business solutions. Over the years he has worked on a number of wide ranging projects which involve structuring investments and Capitalisation of business opportunities in various industries including Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Renewable energy to name a few. He is based in the UK and with local and European business partners, and maintains an active investment portfolio spread over both developed and emerging markets. His work exposed him to a wide network of valuable business contacts which he has leveraged on to add value to SME’s and assist them meet challenges particularly centred on Financial Inclusion and Capitalisation. Through their business consultancy vehicle, they also work with small businesses and individuals to enhance resources and skills to grow; from idea development, capitalisation and strategy consulting using modern data based solutions.
