Zimbabwe Achievers Awards International (ZAA) have spread their wings further with the launch of the ZAA Canada edition which was held on Saturday at Radisson Hotel in Edmonton in a glittering ceremony that celebrated the vast array of Zimbabwean achievers in the North American country.
The Inaugural ZAA Canada Awards Gala further enhanced the efforts of the international awards brand to honour Zimbabweans who are doing inspiring works and achievements around the world.

ZAA Canada Country Director Simba Sithole hailed the successful event and paid glowing tribute to the Zimbabwe diaspora community in Canada for their work in representing the country.
“This is a record setting event today as we celebrate our community organizations and brothers and sisters here in Canada who have been working hard I holding communities and bringing pride and honour on the country,” he said.
“This is just but the beginning of bigger things for us as a whole and we believe that our communities will keep on with their impressive work”.
The Canada edition which became the fifth addition to the franchise was graced by most of the leading lights in the diaspora social and business circles who included popular winners such as MC Bonde, musician Kay L and entrepreneur Lillian Cox to mention a few.
The Chairman’s Honorary Awards for services and contributions were also bestowed on the pioneering class of the Canada edition such as Joseph Mugodo and Solomon Choga among others.
ZAA International founder and Chairman Conrad Mwanza also spoke of his delight at the first edition.
“We are proud to welcome the Canada community to our growing family and extend congratulations to all nominees and winners and everyone who is working hard to make the world a better place.”
“This is part of our vision and desire to recognize and honour individuals, businesses, organizations and initiatives that represent the excellence and innovation that makes us all truly proud to be Zimbabwean,”he said.
This was the third event that ZAA had held this year after successful runs in South Africa and UK in April and May,respectively, earlier in the year.

Zimbabwe Achievers Awards International have announced that all is set for the inaugural edition of the ZAA Canada Awards Dinner Gala set to take place this Saturday the 29th June at Radisson Hotel in Edmonton.
The Canadian edition will roll out its red carpet for the first time under the ZAA banner for the Zimbabwean diaspora community in the North American country on Saturday with a number of notable names and organisations from various fields set to be honoured for outstanding achievements abroad.
ZAA Canada Director Simba Sithole said all logistics are in place for a night of celebrating Zimbabwean excellence.
“All roads in Canada lead to Radisson Hotel on Saturday for our first edition and we are very excited to host our vast and growing community of Zimbabweans and friends here in Edmonton,” he said.
“For many years there were calls from our communities to bring ZimAchievers to Canada and we would like to thank our partners and sponsors as well as the wonderful group of achievers and friends who have been flying our country’s flag high.”
“Everyone can expect an evening of celebration and networking as we continue to unite and recognize each other for inspiring works in the fields of business, sport, arts, media, entertainment among others.”
The event will be held at the five-star Radisson Hotel and proceedings will begin at 1800hrs and tickets are still available on www.zimachievers.com/canada/buy-tickets/ and is largely expected to be a success following in the wake of the South Africa and UK editions held in April and May, respectively.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards were founded in 2010 in the UK by Conrad Mwanza and have grown to have a presence in UK, USA, Australia, Canada and South Africa and recognize and celebrate Zimbabwean achievers in the diaspora.

ZAA UK celebrates 9th Anniversary in style

Zimbabwe Achievers Awards UK hosted an excellent awards dinner gala on their 9th anniversary at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London on Africa Day which saw a number of people and organisations in the diaspora honoured for their contributions within their communities and beyond.

The event was well attended and featured people from all walks of life who included dignitaries such as Zimbabwean ambassador to the UK Rtd Colonel Christian Katsande and Ambassador Tim Morris as well as various other guests who came out to a night of celebration that was marked by the launch of the ZAA Foundation.

Ambassador Katsande gave a speech that commended all the Zimbabwean people and organisations for doing amazing work in the diaspora and representing the country well and also exhorted people to make use of the opportunities opening up in the country for development.

The Ambassador’s sentiments were echoed in a speech read out on behalf of the Minister of Information Hon Monica Mutsvangwa who reiterated that Zimbabwe is open for business and Zimbabweans should continue to work towards achieving all national and individual aspirations.

There were many people who were recognized for their endeavours abroad and Ambassador Morris congratulated the diaspora community for their contributions as well as the ZAA team for the initiative.

A number of awards in different categories were handed out and notable winners on the night included Young Achiever of the Year Stephanie Travers who scored a first for Zimbabweans by becoming the Fluid Engineer for Petronas on racing ace Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes team in Formula 1. Rugby star Farai Mudariki was awarded Sports Personality of the Year whilst CNN’s Samantha Tapfumaneyi took the Female Personality of the Year on a night when the Chairman’s Honorary Awards were handed to various people that included Sir Richard Heygate, Dr Melanie Abas, Ennie Mupoto and Vusa Mkhaya among others.

The 9th edition of the annual awards event was headline sponsored by WorldRemit who were also running a promotion for people making their first transaction to Zimbabwe free of charge with the promo code ZAAPROMO. Other sponsors included Genesis Law, Blose Architects, eZimtech Distributors, Indlovukazi Guesthouses and Chiltern Support & Housing,Tugela Group, Henco, Made in Zwe and Stark Property Group among others.

ZAA also launched their independent goodwill arm ZAA Foundation which will give back to various community and national causes for the upliftment of the community. The first targeted initiative was the contributing to the welfare of the Zimbabwe Netball Team travelling to the UK for the Netball World Cup and £500 was raised in cash whilst pledges amounted to £2000 from various business people on the night.

Speaking at the event ZAA Foundation Chairperson Beatrice Kumalo hailed the initiative and the generous response to the call for the worthy cause.

“We would like to thank all of us for showing oneness and generosity in giving back to the community and look forward to continued engagements and collaborating on identifying needs within our communities and helping in whatever way we can,” she said.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards were started by Conrad Mwanza in 2010 in the UK and has now spread to the USA, Australia, South Africa and Canada which is in its inaugural year, to recognize and honour Zimbabweans who are in the diaspora. Plans to bring the awards home to the motherland were mooted at the event with Victoria Falls tipped to be the venue for next year’s ZAA 10th Anniversary through Zim Thrive initiative which aims to host the biggest homecoming for diaspora based Zimbabweans in the country at one time.

Meanwhile, with the South African and UK editions wrapped up, attention turns to the Inaugural ZAA Canada Edition set for Saturday 29th June 2019 at the Radisson Hotel in Edmonton. ZAA Canada announces inaugural nominees

Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (Z.A.A) has announced the nominees list for the inaugural Z.A.A Canada edition with the Awards Dinner Gala set for Saturday 29th June 2019 in Edmonton at the Radisson Hotel.

This is the first edition of the Canada awards as the Zimbabwe diaspora community in the ‘Great White North’ joins the established list of Z.A.A editions in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa.
Z.A.A Canada Country Director Simba Sithole expressed excitement at the upcoming event, promising that it marks a new exciting chapter for Zimbabweans in Canada.
“ We are very excited to announce the nominees shortlist for Canada edition and this bears special significance to us and our diaspora community as this the inaugural edition and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating with outstanding Zimbabwe achievers around the world,” he said.
The announcement comes on the back of the successful Z.A.A SA edition which was held on the 6th of April in Sandton South Africa where Z.A.A rolled out the honours for outstanding achievers in South Africa.

Zimbabwe Achievers Awards were founded in the UK in 2010 by Conrad Mwanza and recognise and honour Zimbabwean individuals and organisations who do commendable in the diaspora communities as well as back home. The awards now have a presence in five countries across the globe with UK, USA, Australia, South Africa and Canada taking the lead in honouring the achievers as well as honorary awards.
